Abstract
Emotional annoyance is a problematic behavior that occurs in silence and apparent calm, regardless of the consequences. Emotional harassment will be detrimental to a child's development and health, as well as a factor in adverse effects in adulthood. In the present study, the aim was to measure the prevalence of emotional distress in sixth grade students and its relationship with their academic performance. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study was sixth grade students in Kaboudar Ahang. The research subjects were 250 students who were randomly selected. The research tools were a questionnaire for emotional harassment (Nowruz) and a researcher-made academic performance questionnaire, which included tests from four subjects: science, mathematics, writing, and studies. Statistical methods of Pearson correlation coefficient and regression were used to analyze the data. The results of correlation coefficient showed that emotional harassment and academic performance have a significant negative relationship and the results of regression coefficient analysis showed that lack of love and humiliation of the variables of emotional harassment are predictors of reducing academic performance. In general, research findings show that emotional distress is associated with decreased academic performance.
