Abstract

Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of the effect of empathy training on reducing the crime and violence of illegal aliens in Ray city. The method of the current research was a quasi-experiment with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The research population included all illegal citizens living in Ray city. The research sample consisted of 50 illegal citizens of Ray city, who were selected by the available sampling method and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups (25 people in each group). First, a pre-test was taken from the two experimental and control groups, and then the empathy program was implemented for ten sessions in the experimental group, and finally, the post-test was taken from the two experimental and control groups. The tools used were a crime and violence questionnaire (2010) and Vaziri and Lotfi Azimi empathy training package. The results were analyzed using SPSS26 software. The findings showed that empathy training had no significant effect on public conflict strategy and financial crimes (P>0.05). But this effect on interpersonal crimes and crimes related to drugs and addiction was significant (P<0.01). According to the results of the present study, it can be concluded that empathy has a positive effect on reducing crime and violence among illegal citizens, so it is necessary to design empathy intervention programs among illegal citizens.
