Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the mediating role of emotional control in predicting communication skills based on students' mindfulness. The research was descriptive and structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the study included all students studying at the Islamic Azad University of Karaj in 2021, from which 200 people were selected by available sampling method. Mindfulness Questionnaire, Emotional Control Questionnaire and Communication Skills Questionnaire were used to collect data. Research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and structural equation modeling with SPSS and LISREL programs. The results showed that most of the people were studying at the undergraduate level and 62% (123 people) of the participants were female students and 38% (77 people) were male students. Based on the results of this study, the proposed model of causal relationships between the mentioned variables had an acceptable fit. In general, in the proposed research model, the results showed that mindfulness is both directly and indirectly related to communication skills in students through emotional control (P<0.05).
